Ethan Okunas
As the Head Coach and Owner of Base Submission Grappling in Framingham, Ethan Okunas brings over two decades of grappling experience. A former Division 1 wrestler competing at the national level, Ethan is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Todd O'Brien and a blue belt under Hiago Gama. With a focus on No-GI grappling and a unique coaching approach centered on ecological dynamics, Ethan is dedicated to helping students progress rapidly in their grappling journey. Competing and winning in regional tournaments, including NAGA and Grappling Industries, Ethan's expertise is invaluable to anyone passionate about advancing their skills in BJJ and grappling.

Todd O'Brien
Todd O'Brien, a distinguished 4th Degree Black Belt under Roberto Maia, boasts a rich background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) since 1999, complemented by prior experiences in wrestling and judo. Having competed in numerous BJJ tournaments, including five appearances at the IBJJF Pan Ams where he secured medals in the brown and black belt senior divisions, Todd is a seasoned practitioner and competitor.
In addition to his personal achievements, Todd has demonstrated his coaching prowess by training and coaching multiple students for BJJ competitions and preparing athletes for MMA fights. His teaching philosophy revolves around a concepts-based approach, cultivating a comprehensive Jiu-Jitsu game for both beginners and advanced students.
